First edition, first printing of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secret by J.K. Rowling, published by Bloomsbury in London, 1998. This is a very good paperback with none of the usual fading at the spine, with slight pushing to the corners, the text blocks are mostly clean. Overall, this copy is in very good condition. Illustrated by Cliff Wright. The book is accompanied by a lever arch file previously belonging to an Abigail Yates of Whitworth School, Manchester. The file includes Abigail’s own notes and research on two departments at Hogwarts – this was prior to a book launch at Manchester Deansgate and presumably signed by Rowling at the event. On the first page, following Abigail’s title, J K Rowling has signed, ‘A+ – good work!/J K Rowling’. This is probably the largest signature we have seen of Rowlings and is a lovely accompaniment to the paperback first edition, presumably from the book launch.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling follows Harry Potter’s second year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. When a mysterious series of attacks occur, petrifying students, Harry uncovers a hidden chamber within the school containing a deadly secret. With the help of his friends Ron and Hermione, Harry confronts dark forces and uncovers the truth about the Chamber’s history. Rowling’s captivating narrative weaves magic, mystery and friendship into a spellbinding adventure that explores themes of bravery, prejudice and the power of loyalty.
