£850.00
A first edition, first printing of ‘The Ascent of Man’ by J. Bronowski, published by BBC books in 1973. A very good book. No inscriptions. In a very good clipped wrapper without the usual fading to the spine, although wear to the spine tips and corners. Complete with a signed letter from Bronowski on his ‘Salk Institute’ headed letter to a Mrs Eirene Ripley and reads: ‘Dear Mrs Ripley/Thank you for your letter and the nice things you say about The Ascent of Man. I am happy to know how much it has been appreciated; it is letters like yours that make me feel that all the work that went into the series and the book has been worth while. With my personal thanks, Yours sincerely, J Bronowski (signed in blue ink). A lovely addition to a rare first edition book.
