Ivor Novello – Hand-written note discussing his time in prison
£350.00
Ivor Novello (born David Ivor Davis) (1893-1951) – a one-sided handwritten letter on headed paper, undated but possibly from 1944 when Novello was sentenced to four weeks in jail for misuse of petrol coupons, reads ‘My most grateful thanks for your thought of me during the past few weeks and for your faith in my honesty of purpose – if my painful experience has shown me any way in which I can in the future help to better prison conditions it will not have been in vain’
Vertical creases to centre both vertically and horizontally, paper slightly discoloured along these creases as well as to edges. General slight discolouration overall.
(We don't keep all of our stock in the shop, so send us an email if you're planning a trip to see a particular author or book.)
