First edition, first printing. Published by Stanley Paul (Hutchinson) in London, 1987. This is a near fine copy. The papercovered pictorial boards are bright and clean, showing two individual portraits of the contributing authors. The corners are slightly bumped. Jimmy Greave’s signature appears on the front flyleaf, inscribed to “Snozz, my very good friend (wanker), best wishes, long life pal! Jim” in blue ink. Snozz in question is John Sillett, the legendary English football player and manager. There are internal hand annotations throughout, marking separate paragraphs in red ink, possibly in the dedicatee’s hand. Also loosely inserted is a list of footballing names in blue ink, again possibly in Sillett’s hand. Overall, this is a near fine copy of a fabulous inscribed title.
