A first edition, first printing of Goldfinger by Ian Fleming, published by Jonathan Cape, London in 1959. A near fine copy, signed in black ink to the title page by cast members of the film, Margaret Nolan, Shirley Eaton and Tania Mallet, a single name of a former owner in blue ink to the front paste-down and also to the front free end paper, the text block with toning and extensive spotting. In a near fine unclipped wrapper with chipping to the spine tips, chipping to the knuckles of front and rear flap folds, toning to the spine and hinges of flap folds, some internal spotting. Wrapper design by Richard Chopping. Now housed in a custom made solander box.
Goldfinger by Ian Fleming pits James Bond against Auric Goldfinger, a wealthy, obsessive criminal with a spectacular plan to raid Fort Knox. The novel moves from gambling and golf to international smuggling and high-stakes espionage, showing Fleming’s taste for luxury, danger and eccentric villainy. Bond’s investigation introduces memorable figures, including Oddjob and Pussy Galore, while exploring greed, power and obsession through one of the most iconic plots in the series.
