A very good book, signed by the author to the colophon in black ink, printed on Batchelor Hand-made Paper with wood engraved illustration to title page and four subsequent full-page illustrations by John Nash, a Brooklyn Public Library bookplate to the front paste down, perforated library stamp to the title page and two further pages throughout, three further library stamps to rear paste down (two obscured), with minor internal damage to the spine, with half green morocco binding, gilt lettering and slight fading to the marbled paper boards, bound by Sangorski and Sutcliffe. Bumping to the head and foot of the spine with soft cover rubbed at the edges and bumped at the corners.

Flowers and Faces by H. E. Bates is a poignant short story collection exploring human emotions through the lens of nature. Bates intricately weaves tales where flowers symbolise the spectrum of human experiences, from love to loss. Each story unveils characters whose lives intertwine with blossoms, mirroring their inner conflicts and desires. Through vivid descriptions and subtle metaphors, Bates illuminates the beauty and fragility of both flowers and human relationships, inviting readers to contemplate life’s intricate tapestry.
