Gerald Durrell – Birds, Beasts and Relatives – First UK Edition 1969
£145.00
First edition, first printing. Published by Collins in London, 1969. This is a very good (or better) copy. The dust wrapper suffers from a moderate tear to the front panel, which casts this book down from near fine. There is some slight rubbing to the spine tips. The rear panel suffers with some very slight spotting and handling marks. It has not been price clipped, showing the original 30s. net price. The boards are without any notable wear aside from very slight bumping to the bottom of the spine. There is a neat previous owners name inscribed to the front flyleaf. The text blocks are mostly clean and free from foxing, however the top edge has some dark spotting present. Overall, this is a very good (or better) copy.
The second volume of his autobiographical Corfu trilogy, published from 1954 to 1978. The trilogy are memoirs about his childhood with his family between 1935 and 1939, when they lived on the Greek island of Corfu.
