First edition, first printing of The Day of the Jackal by Frederick Forsyth, published by Hutchinson, Australia in 1971. This is a near fine copy free from internal inscriptions, some bumping to the head and foot of the spine and small damp-stain to head of the spine, the text blocks are mostly clean, but with some foxing to the top edge and slight toning throughout. The near fine unclipped wrapper has slight bumping to the head and foot of the spine, some internal restoration to head of the spine, small chips to knuckles of the front and rear flap folds, with some browning to the rear panel and front and rear flaps, some creasing to said panels. Wrapper design by Tom Simmonds and Trevor Vertigan.

The Day of the Jackal by Frederick Forsyth is a taut, suspenseful thriller centred on an anonymous English assassin, known only as “The Jackal,” hired to kill French President Charles de Gaulle in the 1960s. As the Jackal meticulously plans the assassination, French authorities race against time to stop him. The novel explores themes of precision, politics and tension, combining detailed procedural elements with gripping action to create a masterful cat-and-mouse chase.
