First edition, first printing of ‘The Secret Garden’. Published by William Heinemann in London, 1911. A very good copy. One previous owner’s name and date to the front endpaper and owner’s inscription to the rear of the half-title. The boards are free from notable chips and marks and the text blocks are bright and white, some light foxing to the latter and preliminary pages. Top edge has the green topstain and complete. The eight beautiful full page colour plates by Charles Robinson are all complete and included, as is the tissue frontispiece. Some wear to the spine tips and corners and some cracking to the gutters. Overall, this is a very good or better copy and the basis for numerous films and television adaptations.
