It follows American ambulance driver Frederic Henry and British nurse Catherine Barkley as they fall in love amid the chaos of war. Their romance offers fleeting refuge from violence and despair. Hemingway’s spare, powerful prose captures themes of love, loss, courage and the futility of war, culminating in a poignant exploration of human endurance and disillusionment.
