First edition, first printing. Published by Jonathan Cape in London, 1964. This is a near fine copy. The dust wrapper has some slight handling marks throughout and there is some slight rubbing at the corners. It has been neatly price clipped, though retains the original 18s net price. The yellow buckram boards are slightly marked and with some bumping at the spine tips, with a slight lean present. The text blocks are clean and free from foxing. This copy is free from previous owners ink and is, overall, in near fine condition.

Winner of both the 1963 Tony Award for Best Play and the 1962–63 New York Drama Critics’ Circle Award for Best Play. It is frequently revived on the modern stage. The film adaptation was released in 1966, written by Ernest Lehman, directed by Mike Nichols, and starring Richard Burton, Elizabeth Taylor, George Segal and Sandy Dennis.
