First edition, first printing of ‘Under Milk Wood’ by Dylan Thomas, published by J.M. Dent, London in 1954. This is a very good copy, inscribed by a previous owner in blue ink to the front free end paper, the text block with some toning to the edges, some minor rubbing to the spine tips and corners. The good wrapper has not been price clipped and shows the original 8s. 6d. net price, with chipping to the spine tips and knuckles of the front and rear flap folds, fading to the spine and browning to the rear panel and flap folds, some internal repairs. Some fading and a few stains.
An omniscient narrator invites the audience to listen to the dreams and innermost thoughts of the inhabitants of the fictional small Welsh fishing village, Llareggub, (buggerall spelt backwards).
