A first edition first printing published by Michael Joseph in 1957. Very good copy in blue cloth, with some unobstrusive marks to spine. Some slight spotting to prelims and top & foredge. Dustjacket (with red spot) has a little handling wear and some small nicks to top of spine, now smart in loose, clear sleeve. This copy belonged to Col Sir John Miller, Crown Equerry to Queen Elizabeth II from 1961 to 1987. The book bears his ownership inscription, beneath which Dick Francis has written “February 1969. Hope you enjoy reading this. Best wishes, Dick Francis”.
