A first edition, first printing of ‘Pigeon Post’ published by Jonathan Cape in 1936. A near fine book without inscriptions. Some wear to the extremities. In the unclipped very good dust wrapper. Some browning to the spine and light chipping to the spine tips and to the corners. Tipped in to the first blank endpaper is a hand-written letter from Ransome, dated July 2nd 1937 and reads: Dear Mr McCulloch/Thank you very much/for your vivid, brilliant/ reading of my book/ I believe you could read the alphabet and make it/sound interesting/Yours sincerely/Arthur Ransome/. The sixth in the ‘Swallows and Amazons’ series.
