Anne Frank – The Diary of Anne Frank – First Edition 1952 – in the original first issue dust wrapper
£2,250.00
A first UK edition, first printing of The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank, published by Constellation Books in 1952. A very good book free from internal inscriptions, boards bound in publisher’s original green cloth with gilt titling to the spine and gilt stamped floral motif to front board, tarnishing to gilt on spine with some bumping to spine tips, the text blocks with minor browning and ghosting to the front and rear free end papers. In a very good unclipped wrapper with some heavy chipping to the head and foot of the spine, knuckles of the front and rear flap folds, heavy top edge wear to front panel and closed tear to lower edge, some browning throughout. A very rare book with notoriously fragile wrapper. With contemporary flyer from the “Anne Frank House”.
The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank is the poignant, real-life account of a Jewish teenager hiding from the Nazis during World War II. Written between 1942 and 1944, Anne’s diary captures her thoughts, fears and hopes while she and her family lived in a secret annex in Amsterdam. Her vivid descriptions and reflections on human nature offer a powerful, enduring reminder of the horrors of war and the resilience of the human spirit.
