A first edition, first printing published by Hamish Hamilton in 1948. A very good with one neat name and date to the front endpaper. Some light spotting to the page edges and some fading to the edges of the boards and spine. In a very good unclipped wrapper (one or two rather basic internal colour repairs to the spine) with some rubbing to the edges and light losses to the corners. Spine browned as usual. The first translation into English of Camus’ work, which tells the story of a plague sweeping the French Algerian city of Oran.
