A first edition, first printing of ‘The Moving Finger’ published by Collins [The Crime Club] in 1943. A nearly very good book with a neat inscription to the top of the front pastedown – some wear to the titles and fading and soiling to the extremities of the boards – some wear, but very clean internally. In a very good clipped wrapper with wear some chipping to the spine tips and corners and some soiling to the rear panel.
The Moving Finger follows Jerry Burton and his sister Joanna, who move to the quiet village of Lymstock while Jerry recovers from injury. Their arrival coincides with a campaign of vicious anonymous letters, spreading suspicion and fear throughout the seemingly peaceful community. When one recipient dies, apparently by suicide, the mystery deepens. Miss Marple enters late but decisively, recognising the malice behind the gossip and uncovering a carefully concealed murder beneath the village’s respectable surface.
