First edition, first printing of ‘Taken at the Flood’. Published by Collins Crime Club in London, 1948. This is a very good (or better) copy. The very good dust wrapper has some creasing and a touch of loss to the head of the spine with a little light staining to the spine ends. Not price clipped. The boards are mostly free from chips and marks. The internals are clean and fresh, as are the text blocks. This copy has a neat previous owner’s inscription to the front endpaper and is in very good condition.

The novel tells a story of post-World War II England, when life seems turned upside down, with the relief of the end of the war, the changes from who lived and who died, and the economic challenge of post-war life, playing out for one family in a village not far from London.
