Description
First edition, first printing of ‘By the Pricking of My Thumbs’ by Agatha Christie, published by Collins Crime Club in London, 1968. This is a fine copy, with internals free from internal inscriptions, in the original publisher’s rare green cloth boards with gilt lettering to the spine, with slight pushing to the foot of the spine. The clipped dust wrapper is fine. Wrapper designed by Kenneth Farnhill.
Accompanied by an original typescript with autograph manuscript insertions and signed by Agatha Christie, 1p., recto, folds, [c.1968]
A request from a 12-year-old boy, writing to ask Christie to fill in his questionnaire to be published in their school newspaper, the Junior Herald. Christie obliges, answering what her first book was, her most recent book (a first edition of which, ‘By The Pricking of My Thumbs’ accompanies this typescript), and which of all her books did she most enjoy writing, and her opinion on the current political situation – “as usual – a thorough mess!”. Curiously she refrains from filling in her favourite author…
A delightful piece of Christie ephemera.
