Agatha Christie – An Autobiography – First UK Edition 1977 – Review Copy with hand-written postcard by Max Mallowan
£1,250.00
First edition, first printing. Published by Collins, London, in 1977. This is a very good copy. The dust wrapper, as with this title, is sunned at the spine but the titling remains bright. There are some slight chips to the top of the spine. It is not price clipped – with price erased. The boards are free from notable wear and the text blocks are bright but with a hint of spotting. This copy is in very good condition. This, a review copy from Collins, bears their review slip attached to the front endpaper.
Accompanying the book is a hand-written postcard addressed to Philip Dosse Esq from Max Mallowan and reads; “Wallingford/21 May 1976/How very good of you/to reprint the New Statesman Appeal in/the Memorial to my/ beloved wife. Blessings/to you/Max Mallowan”. A touching note written just two months after Christie’s death and a rare memento from her husband Max Mallowan.
Best known for her detective novels, Agatha Christie is only outsold by the Bible and Shakespeare! Here is a delightful account of Christie’s interesting life and career.
