The story, set at an exclusive island resort in the Adriatic, features a glamorous but universally disliked actress, Arlena Marshall (Diana Rigg), who is found murdered on the beach.
The film focuses on the witty interactions and alibis of a stellar cast of suspects, including Maggie Smith, James Mason, and Roddy McDowall, all of whom had a motive to wish Arlena dead. With a soundtrack of Cole Porter songs and lavish scenery, the movie is a stylish whodunit where Poirot must unravel an intricate plot involving a fake diamond and an elaborate deception to expose the killers.
