A first edition, first printing of My Own Story by Emmeline Pankhurst, with photographic illustrations throughout, published by Eveleigh Nash in London, 1914. A very good book inscribed by a former owner in blue ink to the front free end paper, the boards bound in original publisher’s blue cloth with gilt titling to the spine and front panel, with fading to the spine and pushing to the spine tips, bumping to the corners and light handling wear to boards, slight splitting to guttering of spine, the text block browning, a bookplate to the front paste-down, ghosting to the front free end paper, contents pages roughly clipped at lower edge and damp-staining to upper edges of page 4 and 5.

My Own Story by Emmeline Pankhurst is a powerful autobiography of the leading British suffragette, chronicling her tireless fight for women’s right to vote. Pankhurst details the challenges, sacrifices and fierce determination of the suffrage movement, highlighting key events and personal experiences that shaped her activism. The book offers an intimate glimpse into her life, the strategies employed by the Women’s Social and Political Union (WSPU) and the immense courage required to challenge societal norms.
