A first edition, first printing published by Atheneum in 1975. A very good book with curving of the spine and some fading to the edges. In a very good unclipped wrapper with nicking and wear to the edges. Preceding the British first edition of the first chronological work in Clavell’s epic Asian series. Octavo, original half cloth, cartographic endpapers. Dust wrapper design by Paul Bacon.
A Small letter from Robert Silver Program Chairman for The EXPLORERS CLUB IN LA California in 75 (known as the elite explorers club) to and inscribed on the endpaper for Captain Adrian Small who later sailed to Japan for the 1980s SHOGUN series on the Golden Hind and was used as Erasmus in the series. He also sailed on the replica Mayflower 2 from 1957 when Alan Villiers was captain.
A lovely association.
