A.A. Milne – Now We Are Six – First UK Edition 1927
£2,250.00
First edition, first printing. Published by Methuen & Co. Ltd. in London, 1927. This is a near fine copy. The dust wrapper, elaborately illustrated by Ernest Shepard, has some very slight handling marks present. There are some closed tears to the top edge of the front panel, and some slight rubbing at the spine tips and corners. There is a slight patch of abrasion to the tail of the spine, marking the ‘H’ in Methuen. There are little handling marks throughout. It has not been price clipped. The book itself is fine. The gilt tooling is immaculate and without breaks. The gilt border is equally immaculate. The text blocks are almost without blemish, however there is one to the gilt on the top edge. There is a small previous owners signature to the front preliminary, dated to the year of publication in a neat hand. This is a near fine copy of an increasingly scarce title, particularly in this unrestored condition.
The second collection of children’s poems following Milne’s When We Were Very Young, which was first published in 1924. The collection contains thirty-five verses, including eleven poems that feature Winnie-the-Pooh illustrations.
