A near fine book inscribed on the front endpaper by the Author, ‘For/Fred Bason/from his friend/W. Somerset Maugham’. Previous owner’s bookplate removed front pastedown and smaller plate affixed. In a very good/near fine unclipped wrapper which has a little edge wear. Neat internal repair to the head of the spine internally. A neat closed tear to the bottom of the front panel.
Fred Bason was a close personal friend of Maugham’s and indeed compiled the writer’s bibliography in 1931. Bason was a legend in the bookselling trade.
