Graham Greene – A Burnt Out Case – First UK Edition 1961 – with proof dust wrapper
£325.00
First edition, first printing. Published by Heinemann in London, 1961. This is a near fine copy. The dust wrapper, designed by Lacey Everett, has one small hairline crease at the spine and at the foredge. It has not been price clipped and shows the original 16s, but raised some 5cm from the bottom edge where the standard height is 1cm. There is also a stamp in the rear fly leaf, dated ‘2088 APR 61’, making this a possible pre-publication copy with a proof dust wrapper. The boards are free from notable chips and marks. The text blocks contain some slight foxing to the side and bottom edges, though the top edge is markedly dusty and browned. This copy is free from previous owner’s inscriptions and is, overall, in near fine condition.
Set in a leper colony on the upper reaches of a tributary of the Congo River in Africa. Originally published in Swedish.
