A first edition, first printing of ‘Scoop’ published by Chapman and Hall in 1938. A very good book with some lightening to the spine and light wear. No inscriptions. A little spine fading and rubbing to the extremities. SIGNED by the Author on the front endpaper – ‘For Elizabeth Herbert/Evelyn Waugh’. In the first state dust wrapper with ‘Daily Beast’ to the front panel. Unclipped and has benefitted from some professional restoration to the spine and edges. With the rare wrap-around band, stating ‘Stop Press’ – Chosen by the Book Society.
The recipient, Elizabeth Herbert was sister to Laura, the Author’s second wife (after Evelyn).
