First edition, first printing of ‘The Day of the Triffids’. Published by Michael Joseph in London, 1951. This is a very good (or better) copy. The dust wrapper, with the iconic Patrick Gierth dust wrapper, has some slight chipping at the top and tail of the spine and corners and some internal repair. There is slight shelf wear at the spine tips and a chip to the lower portion of the spine. It has not been price clipped, displaying the original 10s. 6d. net price. The boards are mostly clean in the original publisher’s cloth, with silver foil titling and some slight shelf wear. There are some surface marks to the rear panel. The text blocks are toned and with some sparse spots, but are otherwise clean. Accompanied by the rare Daily Graphic wrap-around band (some internal repair and a chip to the central portion). Overall, this is a very good (or better) copy of a fine, landmark title.

After most people in the world are blinded by an apparent meteor shower, an aggressive species of plant starts killing people.
