£1,500.00
A first edition, first printing of ‘On Her Majesty’s Secret Service’ published by Cape in 1963. A near fine book without inscriptions in a near fine unclipped wrapper. Small spotting patch to the rear panel. Accompanied by three original photos. The first, a portrait of ‘Mr and Mrs bond’ at their wedding, SIGNED (with best wishes) by Diana Rigg; the second, an on set shot of Lazenby, Savalas and director Peter Hunt, signed by Peter Hunt; the third, a SIGNED photo of Joanna Lumley – her first movie role as one of the ‘Angels of Death’; finally, a hand signed cheque [check] from the account of Tele Savalas. Ian Fleming’s ‘On Her Majesty’s Secret Service’ (1963) follows James Bond as he pursues villain Ernst Stavro Blofeld, infiltrating his Alpine clinic. Bond falls in love with Contessa Teresa “Tracy” di Vicenzo, marries her, but tragedy strikes when Blofeld kills her. The 1969 film adaptation starred George Lazenby in his only Bond role, with Diana Rigg as Tracy and Telly Savalas as Blofeld. Supporting cast included Gabriele Ferzetti as Tracy’s father, Ilse Steppat, and Joanna Lumley in an early role. The film is noted for emotional depth, striking action sequences, and a faithful adaptation of Fleming’s original novel.
