A first edition, first printing of ‘The Children’ published by Michael Joseph in 1959. A very good book with one neat name and date to the front endpaper – with some spotting to the page edges, in a very good clipped wrapper with a little rubbing and light loss to the corners and spine tips and edges and some spotting. Rare.

A novel based on the true story of three Aboriginal children stranded in the Australian outback. After a plane crash, they struggle to survive in the harsh desert, guided by their knowledge of the land and each other. Themes of resilience, cultural understanding, and survival emerge as they journey toward safety. The story emphasises the strength of indigenous knowledge and the enduring spirit of children in the face of adversity. Latterly filmed as ‘Walkabout’ directed by Nicholas Roeg.
