Robert Clifford Latham (1912‚Äì1995) was a British historian, editor and Pepys scholar. After teaching at King’s College London and Royal Holloway, he moved to Magdalene College, Cambridge in 1970, becoming Fellow and Pepys Librarian in 1972. There, he cared for Samuel Pepys’s great library and diary manuscripts. With William Matthews, Latham produced the definitive eleven-volume edition of The Diary of Samuel Pepys, a landmark of Restoration scholarship. He was later honoured as CBE and FBA.
