A set of three first edition, first printings published by John Murray between 1977 and 2013. A Time of Gifts is a very good book in a very good unclipped wrapper with a little loss to the corners. Rare. Between The Woods and the Water is a very good book in a very good clipped wrapper which has a little light spotting within the book. The Broken Road is a near fine book in like unclipped wrapper.
Patrick Leigh Fermor’s trilogy, consisting of “A Time of Gifts” (1977), “Between the Woods and the Water” (1986), and the posthumously published “The Broken Road” (2013), recounts his epic journey across Europe in the 1930s. The trilogy follows Fermor’s trek on foot from the Hook of Holland to Constantinople, capturing the landscapes, cultures, and people he encountered. Fermor’s lyrical prose and deep cultural insights make the trilogy a literary masterpiece, offering a unique blend of travelogue, history, and personal reflection. His vivid storytelling and adventurous spirit have garnered acclaim, making the trilogy a classic in the genre of travel literature.
