Stanley Jones Esq, 96 William Way, Letchworth, Herts, dated 16th November 1972, typed on headed ivory writing paper incorporating the Shakespeare family coat of arms – ‚’The Shakespear Birthplace Trust, The Shakespeare Centre, Stratford-Upon-Avon, (0789) 4016 Chairman Mr. Dennis L. Flower Director Dr. Levi Fox, O.B.E., D.L.’ – with one horizontal fold and signed in blue ink.

In full: ‚’Dear Sir, Thank you for your letter of the 11th November. I am sending you details of the newly published book ‚’In Honour of Shakespeare’, with order form giving postage, etc. We should be pleased to forward a copy upon receipt of your confirmation and remittance. Yours faithfully, Levi Fox Director PH Enc.’

Dr Levi Fox (1914‚Äì2006) was the energetic historian-administrator who directed the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust from 1945, transforming it into an internationally respected centre for Shakespeare study and conservation. By 1972, when his In Honour of Shakespeare appeared, he had overseen the Shakespeare Centre and expanded the Trust’s library, archives, museums, education and property holdings. Scholarly yet practical, Fox championed Stratford-upon-Avon’s Shakespeare heritage with unusual longevity, authority and civic devotion, securely shaping its modern worldwide reputation.
