Description
Portraits gathers eighty-three portraits by Kyffin Williams in oil, watercolour and pencil. Based on a 1993 exhibition, it includes the artist’s own comments on each sitter, revealing his sharp eye for character, melancholy and human oddity. Less familiar than his landscapes, the book shows Williams as an acute observer of faces, friends and Welsh social types, with mood valued above conventional flattery. It remains a compact artistic self-portrait too.
