£1,850.00

A first edition, first printing of The Body Snatchers by Jack Finney, published by Eyre and Spottiswoode, London in 1955. A very good copy with former owner’s name and initials to the front free end paper pushing to the spine tips, toning to the spine and top board, some light shelf-wear to the boards, toning to the text block and internals. In a very good unclipped wrapper with chipping to the spine tips and knuckles of front and rear flap folds, pushing to the upper and lower edges of rear panel.

The Body Snatchers by Jack Finney follows Dr Miles Bennell as the residents of a Californian town insist their relatives have become impostors. He discovers that mysterious alien pods are producing identical human replacements, threatening to extinguish individuality and emotion. Jack Finney transforms an ordinary community into a setting of creeping paranoia, exploring conformity, identity and the fragility of trust. The novel inspired the influential 1956 film Invasion of the Body Snatchers and several subsequent adaptations.
