A 1985 children’s book written and illustrated by Chris Van Allsburg. It tells the story of a young boy who, on Christmas Eve, boards a magical train bound for the North Pole. Along the journey, he experiences wonder, friendship, and the spirit of believing. At the North Pole, he receives the first gift of Christmas—a silver bell from Santa’s sleigh—that only true believers can hear. The story was adapted into a film in 2004.
