Bill Brandt – Bill Brandt: Nudes 1945-1980 – First UK Edition 1982
£150.00
First edition, first printing of Bill Brandt Nudes 1945-1980, published by George Fraser in London, 1980. This is a near fine copy in publisher’s original black cloth bound boards with silver titles to the spine, slight fading to the lower edge of the front board and shelf wear to the lower edge and corners, very minor trace of spotting to the top edge of the text block, otherwise the text blocks are fine throughout. The dust wrapper, illustrated with a black and white portrait, has some slight handling wear, chipping to the head and foot of the spine, chipping to the knuckles of the front and rear flap folds, some pushing to the upper edge with minor internal spotting.
Nudes 1945-1980 by Bill Brandt is a compelling collection showcasing the renowned British photographer’s exploration of the human form. Capturing the female nude in evocative, often surreal compositions, Brandt’s work spans over three decades. His innovative use of lighting and shadow transforms the body into abstract landscapes, blending intimacy with a sculptural quality. This book highlights Brandt’s mastery in merging fine art and photography, cementing his legacy as a pivotal figure in 20th century photographic art.
