Published as the catalogue for the exhibition Georgia O’Keeffe and Ansel Adams: Natural Affinities in 2008, the exhibition opened at the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum, Santa Fe, from May 23 to September 7, 2008, then toured to the Smithsonian American Art Museum, Norton Museum of Art and San Francisco Museum of Modern Art through 2009. It explores the visual and personal connections between two major American modernists, pairing O’Keeffe’s paintings with Adams’s photographs, it focuses on their shared love of the American Southwest, natural forms, light, scale and abstraction.
