John Collier (1850–1934) was a British painter associated with the Pre-Raphaelite and academic traditions. He is best known for detailed portraiture and mythological subjects, combining realism with dramatic storytelling. His most famous works include Lady Godiva, Lilith and Clytemnestra. Collier painted many leading Victorian and Edwardian figures and was respected for technical skill, rich colour and psychological depth in portrait and narrative painting.

North House at 69 Eton Avenue in Belsize Park was built for Collier in 1890 by Frederick S. Waller.
