A first edition, first printing of ‘This Torch of Freedom’ published by Hodder and Stoughton in 1935. A very good book with the House of Commons mounted signature to the front pastedown of Baldwin. Spotting to the page edges. In a very good unclipped wrapper with some surface soiling and a thin scratch to the front panel. Some light chipping to the extremities.

A collection of 37 speeches delivered during his time as British Prime Minister. The topics range from faith and the Bible to industrial and social issues, illustrating Baldwin’s vision of British tradition, freedom and national duty. Published by Hodder & Stoughton, it offers insight into the political mindset of mid-1930s Britain and Baldwin’s appeal to common values amid change.
