Air Commodore Raymond asks Biggles to return to Garhwal in North East India, a place Biggles knows well, as he was born and spent the first 12 years of his life there. The assignment is to rescue a Chinese gentleman called Poo Tah Ling. He is currently hiding from the Chinese army at the Ruby mine of a Captain John Toxan.
