Stephen King – The Shining – The Folio Society Edition

A first Folio Society edition, second printing of The Shining by Stephen King, published by The Folio Society in 2016, illustrated by Edward Kinsella. A very fine book free from internal inscriptions. In a fine slip case, a little rub worn.

First published in the US in 1977, The Shining by Stephen King is a horror novel centred on Jack Torrance, an aspiring writer and recovering alcoholic who becomes the winter caretaker of the isolated Overlook Hotel. As supernatural forces haunt the hotel, Jack’s sanity deteriorates, endangering his wife Wendy and psychic son Danny, who has “the shining,” a psychic ability that reveals the hotel’s terrifying past. The novel explores themes of madness, addiction and the destructive power of isolation.
