A first edition, first printing published by Faber and Faber in 1988.
A near fine copy + with slight bumping to the base of the spine. Clean internally. In like, unclipped wrapper.
The tale of two gamblers (one obsessive, the other compulsive) and a glass church! It is said the novel takes its inspiration from the autobiography of the English poet, Edmund Gosse and won the Booker Prize in 1988. It was also nominated for the Best of Booker; a prize awarded in commemoration of the Booker Prize’s 40th anniversary. A film adaptation followed in 1997 starring Ralph Fiennes and Cate Blanchett.
