A first edition, first printing published by Hodder and Stoughton in 1973. A near fine book with a trace of spotting to the text block and offsetting to the title page. Some spotting and browning to the edges of the front board. Slight bumping and browning to the spine tips. In a very good, square unclipped wrapper showing wear to the edges, corners and spine. Some slight loss to the bottom edge of the front cover and a neat tape repair to the head of the front panel. Overall, this is a very good copy.
The biography of Marilyn Monroe in large-format book of glamor photographs of Monroe for which Mailer supplied the text. Originally hired to write an introduction by Lawrence Schiller, who put the book package together, Mailer expanded the introduction into a long essay.
