First edition, first printing. Published by Faber in London, 1961. A very good (or better) copy. The dust wrapper has two small chips to the spine tips – some neat internal tape repairs to the spine. Scarce in this condition, it has not been price clipped, displaying the original ‘8s. 6d’ price. Small amount of staining to the bottom edge of the rear panel. The boards are free from notable chips and marks and the text blocks are bright and white, free from foxing. One previous owner’s inscription to the free endpaper and the name ‘C S Lewis’ to the title page. Overall, this is a very good copy.
