A first edition, first printing published by Harrap in 1986. A near fine book in unclipped wrapper with some creasing to the lower right corner of the front cover. Inscribed by Moorcock to J.G. Ballard, one of the two dedicatees – “Jimmy! Thanks for being there. Love, Mike” , and additionally signed on title page. “This book began as a series of personal letters written to my friend J.G. Ballard who, as prose editor of the magazine AMBIT, suggested he publish parts of them as LETTERS FROM HOLLYWOOD….” From Moorcock’s introduction.Moorcock had gone to Los Angeles in part to work on a screenplay for a major Hollywood director. His descriptions of the project, the director, the studio system, and the bizarre turns taken by all three, make up a large and hilarious part of the book. This book was purchased from John Baxter, biographer of J G Ballard – this book comes from Ballard’s personal library.
