Description
First edition, first printing. Octavo. 308pp, with photographic plates and maps to the endpapers. Publisher’s maroon cloth lettered in gilt to the spine, in the original dust wrapper. A very good to near fine book (a little spotting and a small name to prelims) in a very good original dust wrapper, with light toning and wear to the extremities and some light handling marks to the rear panel – a rare complete example.
Kennedy’s forensic re-examination of the Christie murders argued that Timothy Evans had been wrongly hanged. The book helped secure Evans’s posthumous pardon in 1966, became an important text in the campaign against capital punishment, and formed the basis of Richard Fleischer’s 1971 film.
