£85.00

First edition, first printing. Published by Jonathan Cape in London, 1970. This is a very good copy. The dust wrapper, as ever designed by Raymond Hawkey features a beautiful reproduction from Turner’s ‘Fisherman at Sea off the Needles’ on textured paper. It is sunned at the spine and bumped at the top and tail of the spine, also at the corners. It has been price clipped. The boards have a lean, though are free from notable chips and marks. The silver foil backstrip is bright. The text blocks are clean, but slightly dusty. This copy is free from previous owner’s ink and is, overall, in very good condition.

Set on a warm night in June 1943, detailing a heavy R. A. F. raid on the Ruhr.
