Description
From the library of Norris McWhirter, with his pencil ownership inscription to the front free endpaper, recording Trinity College, Oxford, and the years 1943, 1944 and 1947–48. Extensively annotated by McWhirter in neat pencil throughout, with additional notes to the front pastedown and endpaper, including a reference to ‘Prof. B. Olin’s 10 Keynesian Equations’. A further ink ownership inscription of Norman D. Webster appears on the front pastedown.
A particularly interesting association copy of one of the defining works of twentieth-century economics. McWhirter, co-founder with his twin brother Ross of *The Guinness Book of Records*, subsequently became a prominent advocate of free markets and a founder of the National Association for Freedom. His extensive annotations offer an intriguing opportunity to examine his engagement with Keynes’s ideas during his Oxford years, viewed against his later political convictions.
An individual and compelling copy, bringing together Keynes’s enormously influential economic text and the formative reading of a future champion of economic liberalism.
