A first edition, first printing published by Holt in 1956. A very good book without inscriptions, in a very good unclipped wrapper with some neat internal tape repairs to the folds. Some light chipping to the spine tips and corners. SIGNED and INSCRIBED by the Author on the front endpaper (pre-publication date), ‘December 17, 1955/Dear Mom and Pop/As always with love/Irving/. A lovely association copy, with the novel consequently developed from a story treatment and first draft screenplay of the Nicholas Ray/James Dean film “Rebel Without A Cause.”
